We had a wodnerful workshop with the scientists from the Francis Crick Institute. The children learnt about sound and vibrations and investigated how our hearing works. Everyone was able to make a prediction as to whether one or two ears are better for detecting the direction of sound, and then tested this using comparative and fair testing. We then investigated how sound travels through different materials (air and string). This was the first time we talked about fair testing and after the workshop all the children knew that only one variable was allowed to change!
