This week, the children have been reading an African tale called Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters. In the story, two sisters are invited to appear before a king so he can choose which one of them should become his wife and queen. One of the sisters, Nyasha, is kind and clever. Her sister, Manyara, is manipulative and cruel. Which sister will the king choose?

In class, the children prepared arguments about which sister was most worthy and, later, we held a debate to discuss who the king should choose as his queen.
