We all love Pancake Day but why do some people eat them on one particular day? What is Shrove Tuesday? Year 1 went to find out!

Heading to our local church, we were met by our local vicar who told us all about the day that is recognised by Christians as the start of lent. Pancake day started as a way of allowing people to use up all of the ingredients in the cupboard at the start of Lent. Lent is a time when Christians may consider fasting or giving up certain luxuries for the six week period leading up to Easter.

All children were recommended to go home and eat pancakes… they were all rather excited with this little piece of home learning!
