Today the Vicar of St Mark’s Church at Primrose Hill came to visit us. She talked to us about what it was like to be a Christian.
She explained the Christians could become part of the Church at any age. Usually they are baptised by having water put on their heads to remind them that they start their life as a Christian washed clean of anything bad they might have done wrong.
The Vicar showed us some of the Christian symbols, like the cross which Jesus died on at Easter time. She had a cross that her son had made for her, after they had an argument and the cross was a sign of forgiveness.
We found out that Christians go to Church and share a meal of bread and wine, just like Jesus and his friends did 2000 years ago. They remember what he taught about how to live.
Next, explained that Muslims, Jews and Christians all share similar stories and that Christians read about them in the Holy book called the Bible.
The Bible has two parts. The first part has history and poems and prayers in it. The last part is about when Jesus was born and what he said and did during his life and what happened after he died.
All the children found out something new that they didn’t know about their Christian friends.
