This half term in Ladybirds we have been making and playing our own track games in maths.
We started off by becoming counters in a large, human size track game on the carpet. We took it in turns to roll the dice and then move that many spaces forward. The children then decided they wanted to make it more interesting by adding stars on some of the numbers. If they landed on a star, they had to turn over a card. On these cards, some said ‘move one more’ and some said ‘miss a go’. They loved this game so much that they wanted to make their own smaller versions on paper, to play with their friends. They were able to write the numbers in order around the track and also made their own cards.
