We have been reading Michael Morpurgo’s retelling of the story of Beowulf, a great tale of adventure from the Anglo Saxon times.

The original story wasn’t written down until the 7th Century.  Before then it was always told by people to entertain each other. So that’s what we did.

Everyone took part of the story and tried to use as much book language as they could remember. We had to listen carefully to each other.
