Whilst reading our class text, Where The Wild Things Are, the children identified a problem… how exactly did the forest grow in Max’s room? Was it possible for all of the plants to grow in a few minutes? These were questions that could not be ignored… we simply had to become Science Detectives and to find the answer!
First, we worked in teams to write all the facts we knew. It turned out that we knew some facts but could not explain why or how these things happened. Why did plants need sun? Would/Could a plant grow without sun? Why were seeds important? What did a seed do? We wrote our questions and then headed to the Regents Park Allotments and Queen Mary’s Gardens with our parents and carers to find out!
