In Year 4 we have been carrying out a STEM project about the water cycle and weather.
We have been wondering what it would be like if it snowed soon. All those snowmen we could build… All those snowmen that we had taken hours to make, melting! AHHH!
We thought about what would make a good insulator and designed snowman rescue bags. There were lots of different ideas but we chose the simplest. We could make a little snowman and keep him in the bag to see if it would stop him melting.
We had to choose a material, choose an insulator, learn to sew (tacking and back stitch), learn how to thread needles by ourselves and finally design a cover.
We used Sharpie pens for the designs because they are waterproof.
We haven’t tested the bags yet. If it doesn’t snow soon we will have to resort to snowmen made in the fridge ice box!
