Year 1 have been working in the art room this half term with Alice.
They have begun work on large scale paintings in response to the spotty pumpkin paintings by polka-dot obsessed artist Yayoi Kusama.
In their sessions earlier this term, they drew giant pumpkins from first-hand observation and cut them out. They then selected colours and sponge painted sheets for the background of their paintings.
This week, they have been creating patterns for the backgrounds using a network of dots and connected 3 and 4-sided shapes. They had to think like both mathematicians and artists!
Next up, adding spotty patterns to the giant pumpkins. Watch this space!!!
