This term we have been exploring blending. Words like scratch, flash, bend, pretty and string all contain blends… a collection of single sounds, or phonemes, that can be tricky to hear when we are writing or to read when we are reading.

We have also been learning all about the ‘e’ twins, or split-digraphs, and have been sounding out and blending words that have either the a_e, e_e,  o_e, u_e or i_e sounds.

We’ve been exploring activities across the class room and have even started to use our phonics knowledge to create amazing sentences!
