As part of Science Week, Herons were visited by a scientist from the Crick Institute in King’s Cross. He brought with him a class set of microscopes, which he allowed the children to explore. After some great partner talk, they worked out how to use it and what all of the button and nozzles did.
Equipped with the knowledge of how to use the microscopes, the children then began their scientific inquiry, discovering how things look under the lens.
After the investigation, they made posters to explain to others how to use the scientific equipment, some even taught their parents in an after-school workshop, and in art they completed observational drawings.
