Year 5 have been reading the narrative poem ‘The Highwayman’, written by Alfred Noyes. This very dramatic story uses beautiful language and tells the story of the Highwayman and Bess, who tragically die when captured by King George’s soldiers.

First we mapped out the story onto a story mountain. We then in groups created a freeze frame for the opening, build-up, climax, resolution and ending of the story. Can you recognise the characters in the pictures?
