We have now ran two Y1 groups at Forest School. Led by Jane and Pete, the children have explored Regent’s Park and the local Church grounds and enjoyed lots of woodland games, crafts and skills. The children have been enjoying themselves and learning lots of new tricks. Research now backs up what forest school practitioners have known all along – that children and young people are stimulated by the outdoors and typically experience, over time, an increase in their self belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills and emotional well-being. This is really important for our children given that they do not have an outside classroom in Y1.
