EYFS Ideas for the Holiday

Whilst Evidence Me will be inactive over the holidays to give you a break, with most of us Staying at home, you may want some activities to keep you busy. If that is the case, please have a look at these ideas from Maria and Kyri. Happy holiday!

Phonics-

We have now completed teaching all of the phonics sounds for Phase 2 and 3. Now is the time to consolidate these by revisiting any of the sounds your child may be unsure of. You can do this by playing a range of phonic games e.g. Alphablocks, Youtube phonic songs including the Jolly phonics songs. It will be useful to continue to revise these phonic sounds daily (for around 5 minutes) in order for these to become secure.

Literacy/Topic-

Going on a bear hunt – Find a teddy and pop it in front of your window. This way when you and your friends are going on your daily exercise walk you can look out for these and see how many you can find. Make a tally chart to record the number.

Draw a picture of your favourite Teddy and explain why it means so much to you.

Make invitations for your teddies inviting them to a teddy bears tea party

CBeebies Pablo Live Lessons- take a look at this link for some art activities to do at home.There are resources for you to print out or you can just use some paper and make your own.

Maths-

Teddy Bear’s Picnic activity – Invite your teddys for a tea party. Share the food out equally so everyone has something to eat and drink. Try to encourage your child to use language such as, half, quarter, share, divide, equal, amount, one more, one less, exact, even etc…

Play counting caterpillar game to reinforce understanding of number order.
