Check out 1K’s stop-motion animation based on the adventures of fishing boats caught in bad weather at sea!
They came up with the ideas for the storylines after looking at Japanese artist Hokusai’s famous wood block print ‘The Great Wave’, made over 200 years ago.
Hokusai’s image shows a troup of fishing boats about to be confronted by a giant wave. What happens afterwards is anybody’s guess but year 1 came up with some fantastic ideas which included mermaids, magical seaweed and pirates.
The team work involved in the making of these short films was incredible as they needed to work with a group of 15, negotiating and making sure everyone’s ideas were included. Half of the class made the first half of the animation and then the second half took over to make the second part.
Enjoy, and happy sailing!!
