As winter is approaching we in Year 4 have been learning about insulators, and what exactly makes a good insulator.  We decided to put our theories to the test and become scientists for the day again.  This time we conducted an experiment using different materials that we thought would make good insulators.  We wrapped up frozen water bottles in each material and waited to see which material kept the ice frozen the longest.  We had some very clear winners in felt, bubble wrap and wadding.

Now we are going to put our new found knowledge to the test and try our hand at making our own insulators in Design and Technology!  Stay tuned!
