As part of our learning in history, Year 5 children were subjected to the horrors of the workhouse this week! They were put to work picking oakum after a miserable breakfast of gruel. Some children children did not follow the strict workhouse rules and were brought before the magistrate for punishment!

In spite of the harsh conditions, year 5 somehow seemed to enjoy the experience, as evidenced by these photographs!
