Year 4 were lucky enough to have a visit from a Brother William, a Benedictine monk from the year 1300 before our visit to Westminster Abbey. He told us all about daily life at the Abbey – we’re not sure many of us would make it as a 14th Century monk! We also learnt about the pilgrimages that people went on in those times and the many difficulties they faced on the way.
The next day, we visited the Abbey itself – the burial place of kings and queens and where royal weddings and coronations take place! A beautiful building with an endlessly fascinating history – what a brilliant way to end the half term!
