Hedgehogs apparated to Hogwarts this week, spending every moment of Curiosity Week fully immersed in the magical world of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone! We began with a wand-making workshop, sanding and painting our own wands to get ourselves equipped for our adventures. Having been sorted into our houses, we created banners and crests in the house colours to decorate the classroom. We then made quills from feathers and practiced writing with them (not as easy as it looks!). Next we experimented with a variety of magical substances such as wartcap powder and acromantula venom, discovering a whole host of bizarre and wonderful potion recipes, from ‘Snake Brew’ to ‘Mind-Reading Liquid’ along way. We have a rare copy of The Standard Book of Potions: Volume 1 in our classroom – do come and peruse our other potions when you have a chance! Our Mirrors of Erised will soon adorn the top floor corridor for all to enjoy – do you know what you would see if you peered into this magic looking glass? Come and find out…
Congratulations to Gryffindor who won the Quidditch Cup with some spectacular flying skills and brilliant sportsmanship. And congratulations also to Hufflepuff who were the winners of the House Cup after a week of excellent, mature behaviour and some fantastic team work. A huge well done!
