Year 5 have been learning all about our environment and how we have to look after our planet to protect it from deforestation, pollution and global warming. This inspired year 5 to become environmentalists and to start saving up to buy a piece of the rainforest so it will not be cut down by loggers.
Last week, year 5 were visited by someone who works as an environmentalist. Tom Picken works for a big environmental organisation who go out to rainforests around the world to make sure governments are taking care of them. During his visit Tom told us all about the important work he does and that sometimes this requires him to tie himself to a tree or bulldozer. Such a courageous thing to do to save the rainforest!
Year 5 are continuing their copper collection until this Friday – bring in all your coppers and someone from year 5 will collect them from you at the end of the day at the gate.
