As part of their project about the famous paining ‘The Great Wave’ by Hokusai, year 1 have been developing their mark making skills in paint. They selected from a range of tools and household objects and then applied different actions such as turning, stamping, dragging, flicking, spraying and rolling.  The resulting marks and patterns were really varied and interesting, and sometimes unexpected! Next they will select which ones they want to re-create to add on to their own mixed-media paintings of giant waves.
